On Wednesday 7 September, our Dance students presented the Showcase that they have been working towards all year. Our students had the opportunity to invite their friends and whānau along to watch them perform live after 2 years of not being able to hold a showcase, and it was well worth the wait! This event was the highlight of the year for these students, we are so proud of all their work.
The performances included a selection of dances that the senior students had learned as a class or choreographed in groups as part of assessments over the last two terms. We also had a group each of Year 9 and 10 students who got involved and helped to make this a memorable event.
This was a particularly big occasion for our Year 13 Dance family, being their final year and last opportunity to perform together as a class. Additionally, small a group of these students have been working on an 8 credit assessment all year, producing and developing their own pieces of choreography. The students involved with this worked so hard to get these dance pieces to a high level and ready for assessment. These dances were performed for the first time and assessed on Wednesday evening, and were at an incredible standard.
We were so lucky to have a wonderful audience show up on the night to support us. Our Dance students would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in or supported this occasion in any way, we couldn’t have done it without you!
