Recently, our Year 10 STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) class had the exciting opportunity to visit Auckland Medical School in Grafton for a field trip. In the physiology lab, students conducted a range of experiments, measuring grip strength, peak flow, heart rate before and after exercise, blood pressure, and proprioception—how the body senses its position in space even with closed eyes.
As part of the visit, students also toured the Medical School, exploring a research laboratory, the campus library, and a lecture theatre. It was an insightful and inspiring day, offering a firsthand glimpse into the world of medical science and research.
