Year 12 CPM Fabric 

Unit 1

Pattern making and sewing skills.

Time: approximately 15-17 weeks.

During this unit students will complete the pattern making and sewing skills work book (formally book 1 from the AUT course). (Use the trousers as an extension/gate activity) During this, two unit standard assessments will also be completed and assessed.

  1. Flat Pattern Making
  2. Construct a lined skirt

For the book:

    • a series of samples are completed
    • basic skirt block is drawn up
    • calico toile is made
    • skirt patterns are made. (Unit standard assessment)

 Then students to make a lined skirt from one of their patterns (unit standard assessment)

Unit 2

Applied fabric design

Time: 7-8 weeks

Students to experiment with a range of samples applying design to fabric.

Students then complete the applied design unit standard assessment and make an article with one of the methods on it.

Unit 3

Nightwear

Time 7-8 weeks

Students to complete the night wear unit standard for assessment. Associated design work to complete.
