12COM - Welcome to 12 Computer Studies

Computer Studies/Science is the study of information and Technology (IT). The use of computers has radically changed the way we communicate with each other using sophisticated techniques to deliver messages in print, graphic or multimedia form.

This course will provide an opportunity for students to achieve qualifications towards National Certificate in Computing (Level 2) – a qualification that will lead to further learning or employment opportunities in a range of related industries

National Certificate in Computing (Level 2):
  • Recognises a base level core of computing skills;
  • Provides a first qualification in computing;
  • Provides flexibility for industry to specify computing competencies in combination with knowledge and skills from their specific interests;
  • Allows students to obtain their first qualification in computing in combination with another area of interest;
  • Provides a sound basis for further education and training; and
  • Leads to the National Certificate in Computing (Level 3).

 

Personalised Learning Approach
Students take responsibility for their own course structure.  Other than the three compulsory units: 2780, 2781 and 12886, students are required to select units from the list available.  Refer to Intranet site for more details.
